What is NICA?

NICA (the National Interscholastic Cycling Association) is a non-profit youth development organization that uses mountain biking to build strong minds, bodies, character, and communities.

  • No tryouts. Every student who wants to ride makes the team.
  • No bench. There's no sitting on the sidelines. Everyone participates and practices together.
  • Inclusive. The focus is on individual growth, fun and lifelong fitness rather than elite burnout.

What is NJICL?

The New Jersey Interscholastic Cycling League (NJICL) was founded in the spring of 2016 after submitting a bid to join NICA, a California-based 501(c)(3) non-profit. As one of many leagues across the country, it organizes a mountain bike program for middle and high school student-athletes.

Above all, the league is a youth development organization: its goal is to build strong body, strong mind and strong character in student-athletes, with an unwavering focus on equity and inclusivity in everything it does.
